NASCIO 2015: States Honored for a Job Well Done
Last night, NASCIO honored 11 IT initiatives for outstanding technology achievement in government and showcased the winning project videos.
Distributed during the NASCIO Annual Conference in Salt Lake City, the awards were selected by a committee of state IT leaders and corporate partners from a field of more than 100 nominees.
“It has been a great privilege to co-chair the NASCIO Awards Committee,” said Oklahoma CIO Bo Reese and Delaware Chief Information Officer James Collins in a joint statement. “The volume of quality submissions demonstrates the integral role information technology plays in delivering government services. Citizens are the ultimate beneficiaries of the impressive innovations occurring across the country.”
Colorado, Oregon and Virginia each netted two awards. Colorado was recognized for its universal application to inform residents about benefits and the Secure Colorado cybersecurity plan. Oregon earned praise for a joint disaster recovery partnership with Montana and the OReGO Road Usage Charge program. And Virginia won for a mobile tax collection app and for electronic death registration and birth certificates on demand.
Other honorees include Idaho for the Internet Unemployment System, Ohio for its IT optimization program, Michigan for an enterprise information management program, Minnesota for an employment case management system and North Carolina for the North Carolina Innovation Center.
